Are teachers and classrooms biased places? 6 teachers embarked on a yearlong journey with me this year as part of the NAPE (National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity) project on micromessaging in the classroom. It was a year full of great training and a lot of deep inner reflection. All the teachers agreed that this was some of the best training they have ever been a part of and I am excited to lead a new group again next year. We will continue to attack our own personal biases and those of the system we work in to make science, math, and engineering a more inviting and open space to those students who don't fit the traditional mold.
