Sixth grade students were using base 10 blocks today in Ms. Mai's intervention math class. These blocks help develop conceptual understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, place value, and I'm sure way more!
I visit this classroom daily because I love the hands on activities the students are always doing. The kids enjoy getting the extra support in math to build their conceptual understanding, which will allow them to become more procedurally fluent (which helps them perform better in their 'regular' math class). I also love listening to the students' thoughts about numbers and mathematical ideas. This is a cool place to be!
