Day 5: Self advocating at its best

This young lady came to me yesterday after I asked a group of students if there was anything I could do to help make their experience at Murchison better. She believes (along with several of her friends) that the boys should wait in the gym in the morning and the girls in the cafeteria, which is the opposite of what happens right now. They made a good case for the switch and I told them I would bring it up to the administration at our first official meeting.

She came back to me (with a friend) during lunch today to check in. I told them if they could write a letter explaining their reasoning, perhaps this suggestion would be taken more seriously. And while waiting for the buses today at dismissal, the letter (in draft form I've been told), was presented to me. Quite impressive. These ladies mean business and I'm happy to help.
