"Imagine you are going to be teaching a 5th grade class about Jamestown" is how Mr. Shane's 8th grade history project on Jamestown begins. I love this activity for several reasons (deep thinking involved, incorporates technology, teamwork and collaboration), but mainly because the level of cognition required to understand a topic deep enough to then figure out what's most important for younger kids is much higher than typically found in a 'normal' lesson.
