Students got to show me the phases of the moon using Oreo cookies today in 8th grade science. Here is the waxing crescent phase I believe (even though the cookie shadow is curving the wrong way). Students were exposed to phases of the moon through the use of video, teacher demonstration, student worksheet, and computer simulation, all within 50 minutes of each other. Excellent use of varied materials!
