Day 55: Austin Empty Bowl Project

After school I joined a few teachers in making bowls for the Austin Empty Bowl Project. The following is from their website:

"Potters from all over Central Texas donate bowls of all sizes, shapes, and colors. Thirty restaurants and bakeries donate delicious soups and breads, while musicians donate their time and talent to entertain us. Then, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, friends and families come together to purchase a bowl for $20, have it filled with soup, and enjoy the music. The bowl is yours to keep, as a reminder of those whose bowls are empty. The proceeds go to Meals on Wheels and More's Meals for Kids, and the Capital Area Food Bank to help sponsor the Kids Cafe Program."

I know my bowl is by far the ugliest. Some things never change; my art has been terrible since kindergarten. But at least my bowl has the most mathematical symbols on it! And a big thank you to the students who stayed after school to help me and the other adults!
