Day 101: Why do we have seasons?

8th grade science students used Vernier temperature probes to take accurate data on various spots along the globe. This data, combined with the orientation of the globe, led them to realize that the seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth, not the distance away from the sun (as is commonly thought). I bet this activity will help these kids remember the reason for the seasons, and it appears the adults in the video below should have had more inquiry based labs when they were in school!
